he Acting Chief Registrar of the Judiciary of Uganda has friday 5th transferred nine judicial officers. The transfers within the third organ of government including Chief Magistrates and a Magistrate Grade One will take effect on July 1, 2020, the Acting Chief Registrar, Tom Chemutai says in a Judiciary press release.
The shuffles, as per the transfer instrument issued on 5th June by Mr. Chemutai have seen the re-deployment of Dr. Singiza Douglas who has been away on special assignment with the Commission of Inquiry into Land Matters. The seven-member Commission of Inquiry appointed by President Museveni was headed by Lady Justice Catherine Bamugemereire. It was mandated to inquire into the effectiveness of the law, policies and processes of land acquisition, administration, management and registration. Dr. Douglas Singiza served as the commission’s secretary.
The Chief Registrar also deployed another Chief Magistrate, Mr. Kakooza Elias to the Jinja Chief Magistrates Court, to replace Ms. Hellen Ajio, who was promoted to the position of Assistant Registrar late 2019. Mr. Kakooza Elias’ current station is Mityana Chief Magistrates Court.
Other Chief Magistrates transferred include Ms. Ruth Nabasa from Nakawa to Mpigi Chief Magistrates Court, Mr. Deo Ssjjemba from Masaka to Masindi Chief Magistrates Court, Mr. Kule Moses Lubangula from Masindi to Mityana Chief Magistrates Court, Mr. George Obong from Kiboga to Kiboga/Hoima Chief Magistrates Courts, Mr. Kagoda Samuel Ntende from Hoima to Ibanda Chief Magistrates Court and Mr. Charles Yetelse from Ibanda to Masaka Chief Magistrates Court.
The shuffles have also seen the transfer of Magistrate Grade One, Mr. Lwanga Benedict Nsibambi from Lugazi to Kagadi Magistrates Court.
Mr. Chemutai has urged all the affected judicial officers to hand over their offices in accordance with public service standing orders.
