A lawyer at one of Uganda’s leading law firms has passed on Friday after developing pregnancy related complications, according to a source that has been close to her.
Ms. Rebecca Nahurira, a Senior Associate in the banking and finance law department at Kampala Associated Advocates (KAA) died at Paragon Hospital in Bugolobi after undergoing surgery.
She was 7 months pregnant and was delivered of her baby. The Legal Reports understands the baby has been incubated.

Ms. Nahurira joined KAA in March last year from Tibeingana & Co. Advocates and possessed 8 years experience in legal practice.
According to KAA, she had ‘ an exceptional track record in corporate and land transactions, advisory work and due diligence – advising financial institutions on risk management and legal compliance.’
Ms. Rebecca Nahurira’s bosses at KAA in tribute said they will remember her for reliability, brilliance and good interpersonal attributes.
” She was a wonderful person, a fantastic lawyer and an excellent senior associate…always ready, always helpful. Undoubtedly, one of the best… ” Mr. Elison Karuhanga, a partner at the law firm said in a Twitter post.
Augustine Obilil Idoot, also a Partner at Kampala Associated Advocates said Ms. Rebecca will be missed by everyone at the firm.
” Life is indeed cruel. Rebecca was an amazing colleague and a very knowledgeable lawyer and reliable Lawyer. She will surely be missed by all of us.”
Burial arrangements for Ms. Nahurira are not yet known to The Legal Reports.
Mr. Rayner Mugyezi, an Associate at Kampala Associated Advocates told The Legal Reports that what makes Nahurira’s death harder is her personality.
” Rebecca had a beautiful smile. A hearty laughter and she cared so much for the people around her. She was so hard working that she did not take off even a single day during her pregnancy. She was in early and left early.
” She was a good Christian and an amazing wife. We at KAA didn’t know her too long as she joined in from Tibeingana & Co., but as soon as she came in, she gelled right in. What makes this loss much harder is the kind of person she was” Mr. Mugyezi said.
