Kayunga Shooting: DPP Enters Plea Bargain With Police Officer Indicted For The Murder Of Suspected Hon. Nantaba Assassin

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has entered a plea bargain with a police officer indicted for the murder of a man suspected to have wanted to assassinate Minister Hon. Aidah Nantaba Erios in 2019.

Corporal David Ssali, 48, shot and killed a one Ronald Sebulime in March 2019 after Hon. Nantaba reported to the Police at Naggalama Police Station that she suspected she was being trailed by a man on a motorcycle in Nagojje trading centre, Mukono district.

The Police, according to court documents, pursued the rider and arrested him. The rider turned out to be Ronald Sebulime and said he was going to visit his children at school instead.

Sebulime was handcuffed and put inside a Police patrol vehicle. Corporal David Ssali ordered him out of the vehicle and told him he was going to kill him. Sebulime came out of the vehicle and corporal Ssali cocked his gun and shot him, killing him.

According to the Plea bargain, Corporal David Ssali admitted to his crime which resulted in his conviction and a custodial sentence of 20 years.
