Makerere University has appointed Dr. Ronald Naluwairo Principal of its school of law.
Ronald Naluwairo takes the reigns at Uganda’s premier law school from Prof. Christopher Mbazira who announced the end of his ‘tour of day’ yesterday, 16th November, in a letter to the students’ president.
Ronald Naluwairo is an Associate professor at the school of law and has been Mbazira’s deputy.
Dr. Zahara Nampewo has been appointed to deputise Naluwairo.
Ms. Zahara Nampewo is a senior lecturer at the School of law and prior to this appointment, she was the director of the law school’s human rights and peace centre.
Besides being an associate professor, Dr. Ronald Naluwairo is a member of Makerere University’s Board of research and graduate training. He is a member of the Uganda Law Council’s committee on legal education and training.
Dr. Ronald Naluwairo has a PhD from the University of London, a Master of Laws from the University of Cambridge, a Bachelor of Laws from Makerere University and a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre (LDC). Naluwairo is an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda.
The new deputy principal of Makerere school of law has a PhD from Emory University in the United States, a Master of laws degree in international human rights from University of Nottingham in the UK, a Bachelor of laws degree from Makerere University and a Diploma in Legal practice from the Law Development Centre.
Dr. Nampewo also holds an advanced diploma in human rights protection from Abo Akademi University in Finland. She is also an Advocate of the High Court.
