Former U.S President Donald Trump has filed a lawsuit against his former lawyer Michael Cohen for more than $500 million in damages, Fox News first reported.
President Donald Trump’s lawsuit alleges former lawyer Micheal Cohen breached the attorney-client relationship between them by allegedly spreading embarrassing falsehoods about Trump in public statements, podcasts, and books about his work for Donald Trump.
According to Fox New’s sources, the case against former lawyer Michael Cohen – who has had a fair share of legal problems himself – however has got nothing to do with the ongoing Business Fraud case against President Donald Trump in which he is being accused of falsifying business records in relation to the so-called “hush money payments” to Porn Star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 U.S Presidential Election.
President Donald Trump’s lawsuit is largely a cocktail of accusations against his former personal lawyer Micheal Cohen touching his legal ethics and business conduct.
For example, the lawsuit alleges that former lawyer Micheal Cohen stole President Trump’s money by misrepresenting a business expenditure by claiming he was owed an extra $74,000 over the actual amount of the expenditure.
The lawsuit also cites one of Micheal Cohen’s books, “Disloyal,” in which the former lawyer admits he lied about the money he was owed in reimbursement for an expense he made on Trump’s behalf.
Once known as Mr. Trump’s fixer in media circles, former lawyer Micheal Cohen is a key witness against President Trump in the case against him, according to the New York Times.
Micheal Cohen’s legal team, however, dismisses President Trump’s lawsuit as a joke and intended to threaten potential witnesses in the legal battles ahead against President Donald Trump.
“Mr. Trump is once again using and abusing the Judicial system as a form of harassment and intimidation against Micheal Cohen. It appears he is terrified by his looming legal perils and is attempting to send a message to other potential witnesses who are cooperating with Prosecutors against him. Mr. Cohen will not be deterred and is confident that the Suit will fail based on the facts and the law.”
