Ugandan Law firm TASLAF Advocates & Consultants has joined IR Global, a multi-disciplinary professional services network that provides legal, accountancy, financial advice to companies and individuals around the world, as an exclusive corporate law member in Uganda.

In an announcement on Twitter, the firm said its Managing Partner Mr Stephen Tumwesigye has been admitted to the network which is represented in over 155 jurisdictions and consists of mid-sized firms focused not only on partner-led personal service but also extensive cross border experience.

Mr. Tumwesigye is one of Uganda’s leading corporate and tax lawyers. He heads the Corporate, Mergers & Acquisitions and Impact Finance Practices at TASLAF Advocates and Consultants, a leading law firm in Uganda which provides blended legal and tax services to the most innovative and impactful organizations operating in Africa, according to its website.

Tumwesigye is also part of the Oil and Gas and Tax practices where he has acted for different international firms in the oil and gas financing space and has been involved in high profile infrastructure projects. He is involved in advising clients on tax and legal aspects of setting up in Uganda as well as all aspects in the Procurement, engineering and construction value chain.

He has served as a mentor in both the Yunus Social Business Foundation and the Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship program and currently coordinates TASLAF’s pro bono project which combines the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to provide innovative services to East Africa’s leading start-ups and social enterprises.

The firm whose clients include both Ugandan and international impact or private equity funds, oil and gas companies, financing institutions, construction companies and the leading multinational social enterprises and non-profits (NGO’s) seeks, according to Mr. Tumwesigye in a blog article, to ensure that the legal opinions provided to clients are not only legally wholesome but also take into account various practical and commercially viable business objectives that are important to its clients.

By joining IR Global, the firm will expand its reach and set its foot in the increasingly globalised legal services market.
